Following an investigation to combat drug trafficking, which lasted about a year and a half, the GNR launched an investigation into a suspect who supplied narcotic products to several consumers in the towns of Penafiel, Lousada, Paredes, Vila Meã and Alpendorada.

During the investigation, they found that the suspect belonged to a drug trafficking network, reaching the identification and detention of eight men, who do not exercise any professional activity, making a living with this type of crime.

The drug was sold to several educational establishments and some train station stops, which caused a high social alarm due to the high concentration of drug addicts in those places, who proceeded to buy the product.

During the action, 11 home searches and 11 vehicle searches were carried out, which resulted in the seizure of 4,184 doses of hashish, 443 doses of cocaine, 332 doses of cannabis, 15 mobile phones, eight vehicles, five portable computers, three cutting knives, three PlayStations and 19 thousand Euros in cash.

The detainees, three of whom have a criminal record for the practice of this type of crime, will be present on 12 February, at the 1st judicial interrogation, at the Judicial Court of Marco de Canaveses, for the application of coercion measures.
