According to data from ACAP - Automobile Association of Portugal, the sale of light electric vehicles in 2019 was 7,096 vehicles, of which 6,883 were for passengers and 213 for goods.


In 2018, according to the Electric Vehicle Users Association, 8,241 electric passenger cars were sold, up from 4,327 in 2017.


The Portuguese automobile market closed 2019 with 2 percent fewer cars registered than in 2018, totalling 267.800 vehicles, with the number of light vehicles falling 2 percent and the number of heavy vehicles 1.2 percent, ACAP announced.


The last drop in car sales in Portugal was in 2012, when 95,290 vehicles were sold, 38 percent less than in 2011 (153,433 vehicles).
