Eleven municipalities in the districts of Castelo Branco, Santarém, Portalegre and Faro are today at maximum fire risk, according to the Portuguese Met Office (IPMA).

In the Algarve the counties of São Brás de Alportel and Tavira are at highest risk of wildfires. This is due to the high temperatures forecast for today and hot dry weather of recent days.
