According to the World Surf League (WSL) the stage has already been included in the current calendar.

The qualifying circuit races will be divided into two categories, with all premium events being called ‘Challenger Series’, keeping the 5,000, 3,000, 1,500 and 1,000 points competitions as they are.

The current six men’s premium events will increase to seven next year, as well as women’s, which will increase from two to four, and the monetary prizes will be the same for both genders’ competitions.

The premium locations of the Challenger Series in 2020 will be in Piha - New Zealand, Ballito - South Africa, Huntington Beach - United States, Pantin - Spain, Ericeira - Portugal, Phillip Island - Australia, Haleiwa and Sunset Beach, both in Hawaii.

The competition in Ericeira takes place during the second half of September.
