Portugal was preparing to host the World Cup in August 2021, but the postponement of the Tokyo2020 Paralympic Games to next year forced a change of plans, resulting in changing the competition that will take place in Cascais.

“Cycling continues to grow in Portugal with increasing vigour, and the realisation of this event will constitute a historic occasion to promote the sport at the highest competitive level”, said the vice-president of the Portuguese Cycling Federation (FPC) and coordinator of the National Cycling for All Programme, Sandro Araújo.

In Sandro Araújo’s opinion, this will also be “an opportunity to stimulate the practice of sports for people with disabilities, celebrating sport in its most inclusive dimension”.

The races will take place in the Estoril circuit, between 9 and 13 June, involving hundreds of participants.
