European Medicines Agency recommends antivirals already in use in Portugal

The European Medicines Agency (AEM) on 25 June recommended a market authorisation in the European Union (EU) for the antiviral Remdesivir to treat patients with covid-19, which is already used in Portugal.

The recommendation of the AEM Committee for Medicines for Human Use is for the use of Remdesivir in patients with covid -19 adults and young people over 12 years of age who are still suffering from pneumonia and need to receive oxygen.

The drug is already used in Portugal, under strict conditions, and the European Commission must approve the agency's recommendation next week.

"Remdesivir is the first medication against covid-19 recommended to be used in the EU," according to a statement from the AEM, noting that studies have shown that patients who received it recovered four days faster than other cases serious covid-19.

The director-general of Health, Graça Freitas, has already confirmed the use of the drug Remdesivir in patients with covid-19 in Portugal.

Comments:

The Government must go for karfue or strict lookdown in Lisbon for 15 days . If the do this we believe the covid-19 must be control in within 15 days otherwise it will be horrible. This is the time to take action for Portugal benefits.
