While discussing events he refused to comment about the upcoming Festa do Avante!, scheduled for September. "I am not going to comment on a reality in which the Directorate-General for Health will define rules," he said, on Porto Santo beach, Madeira, where he is on vacation until Saturday, after being asked about the party promoted by the PCP which is taking place between 4 and 6 September, in Seixal.

The head of state underlined, however, that he supports the holding of major events in the country, despite the pandemic crisis.

"Anything that can be done in Portugal, which is attractive in terms of tourism, is welcome, as long as it respects public health rules", he said, highlighting the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Portimão, the golf masters in Loulé and the Madeira Wine Rally, which started today.

"Events are taking place as long as they are compatible with health rules", he reinforced.
