The Intermunicipal Community of Central Alentejo (CIMAC) will be starting the construction of a new kennel, in Évora, to provide shelter for abandoned animals in fourteen different Councils of the District.

According to CIMAC’s President, Carlos Pinto Sá, the one hundred thousand Euro investment will be housing “at least fifty dogs alongside hotel, walking, and bathing zones, and a zone for cats with the same characteristics”.

The development comes in response to a law abolishing euthanasia as a population-control measure which came into force September last year.
