Exports and imports reach historical levels

Portuguese exports rose by ten percent and imports rose 13.1 percent in 2017 compared to 2016, reaching historical levels, the country’s national statistics institute (INE) said.

According to the Institute’s provisional data for international trade in 2017, exports of goods totalled over €55 billion and imports of goods totalled almost €70 million.

Excluding fuels and lubricants, exports rose 8.9 percent and imports grew by 11.4 percent. The deficit rose by €2.125 billion.
