During a hearing with the Faro Municipal Assembly, the People Animals Nature Party (PAN) recommended that the Town Hall guarantee €15,000 towards stray animal sterilisation.

The measure was approved unanimously, with Pedro Baptista, a member of PAN, saying that ‘there is a strong consensus on behalf of the municipal representatives with regards to the appropriate ways to act on the issue of animal welfare’.

In its written proposal, PAN reminded that sterilisation ‘is the privileged form of ethical population control, and one which assures the elimination of the recourse to euthanasia, no longer permitted by law’.”
