Mayor Rogério Bacalhau says there is a shortage of GNR police in the municipality and there are currently no officers to reinforce patrols on Faro Island.
The mayor has sent a letter to Home Affairs Minister Eduardo Cabrita appealing to the government to “take steps” to remedy the situation in particular in rural and busy beach areas.
