Faro Town Hall has inaugurated its first ever Reading Booth. The initiative, developed in partnership with Altice Portugal via the Altice Foundation, hopes to ‘tighten community ties, exercise citizenship and foment reading’.

The action also aims at repurposing phone boxes, turning them into micro libraries under the motto ‘Take, Read, Return’. There, readers will find various amounts of titles and genres available, all of which belong to Faro’s Municipal Library, or were donated by local citizens, publishers or bookshops.

These Reading Booths already exist in certain municipalities across Portugal, and Faro’s one can be found at the Manuel Bivar Garden, near the Bank of Portugal building.
