FC Porto win Super Cup

A swaggering display from Primeira Liga champions FC Porto saw them sweep aside last season’s Portugal Cup winners, Vitoria de Guimarães, to lift the Portuguese Supertaça.

FC Porto, under new coach Paulo Fonseca, took an early lead through summer-signing Licá.
Further goals from prolific scorer Jackson Martinez and Argentinian skipper González gave Porto an unassailable lead.

A packed crowd at the Estadio Municipal de Aveiro created a party atmosphere and Guimarães started the contest on the front foot.
But after only five minutes Porto struck on the counter-attack. Lucho broke down Porto’s right flank and delivered a pinpoint cross to enable Lica - signed from Estoril in the summer - to score his first goal for the club he grew up supporting.
Jackson Martinez headed home via the far post on twenty minutes and the third came on the stroke of half-time. FC Porto eased off after the break but were still able to comfortably control the game.
