According to the Civil Protection, 264 firefighters along with 83 vehicles remain on standby in the area in the event of any flare-ups.
This comes as the Portuguese Met Office placed Loulé, Tavira, Alcoutim and São Brás de Alportel on maximum fire alert due to the prevailing weather conditions.
