Flu: Low intensity in Portugal with decreasing trend

The flu last week remained low in Portugal and with a downward trend, according to the Epidemiological Surveillance Bulletin released by the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge (INSA).

According to the weekly bulletin, between 10 and 16 February, the incidence rate of influenza syndrome was 19.87 per 100 thousand inhabitants, remaining above the base activity, as well as the number of consultations.

In the week under analysis (the seventh of the year), the Portuguese Network of Laboratories for the Diagnosis of Influenza detected the influenza virus type B in 211 cases and type A in 67.

The observed population was 40,291 people.

The bulletin points out eight cases of flu in the 23 intensive care units that sent information.

The observed mortality registered values ??as expected.

The average value of the minimum air temperature was 7.69ºC, that is, 2.12ºC higher than the normal values ??for the month of February.

Flu activity remained low, but with an increasing trend in the European Union.
