Former US ambassador Carlucci dies aged 87

The former US ambassador to Lisbon (1975-1978) and former defence secretary Frank Carlucci died on Sunday at his home in McLean, Virginia, aged 87, the local press revealed at the start of the week.

The Washington Post, quoted a friend of the family of Frank C. Carlucci III, Susan Davis, who said he had died of complications related with Parkinson’s disease.

He had a profound impact during his time in Portugal on the local communities, and the Carlucci American International School of Lisbon is named after him.
