Four people were arrested at Humberto Delgado Airport, in Lisbon, for suspected drug trafficking, in an operation that allowed enough cocaine to be seized for 13,000 doses and had been transported from South America.

According to the Judiciary Police (PJ), one of the four detainees - three foreigners and one Portuguese - still tried to escape from the authorities, but ended up being intercepted near the Humberto Delgado Airport, with the help of elements from the Lisbon Airport Security Division of the Public Security Police.

"The detention of the suspects took place in the context of an investigation concerning the activity carried out by a criminal group that was dedicated to the introduction of narcotic products in the European space", through the Lisbon airport, explains the PJ.

In the possession of the detainees, a large amount of cocaine was seized, which one of them transported from a South American country to Lisbon. According to the PJ, if it reached the illicit distribution channels, the drug was sufficient for the composition of at least 13,000 individual doses.

The defendants, aged between 25 and 33, were present at the first judicial interrogation and were held in preventive detention.
