French anger over Portugal pension tax exemption

Portugal has become a topic of debate in France over the tax exemption granted to pensioners who move here.

The issue has arisen during the so-called ‘great debate’, a forum launched by French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss issues affecting French following the recent Yellow Vest protests.

Among demands being expressed are that French living in Portugal who pay no tax here or in their home country should also lose their benefits.
