From the 20th to the 27th there will be dozens of actions and events, signaling the urgency of climate action, the cancellation of any new projects that increase emissions and the guarantee of carbon neutrality by 2030, in a social process for a fair transition.

The Global Climate Strike will take place in 150 countries around the world, with actions from the 20th to the 27th of September. On the night of the 20th there will be a night march through Lisbon, departing from the Príncipe Real at 9 pm to the Assembly of the Republic, followed by a vigil. During the week there will be over 70 decentralized actions across the country, as well as a climate film festival (CineClima, with 30 screenings in 10 cities).

On 27 September the Global Climate Strike will take place in Portugal, convened by more than 40 collectives and unions, with demonstrations in more than 25 Portuguese cities. To stop the collapse of civilization we need to cut greenhouse gas emissions radically, at the risk of undermining the livability of much of the planet and the natural systems on which we depend. There is no possibility of continuing the "normal" life. The Global Climate Strike represents the first convergence of student climate strikes, world climate marches and the global trade union movement. This collective force will continue to be built and in Portugal we will do our part.

As stated in our manifesto, we demand the closure of coal-fired power plants by the end of the next legislature and gas-fired power plants by 2030, the end of existing oil contracts, the cancellation of any major projects that will lead to increased emissions, such as port and airport expansions, the creation of a public industry that will lead the process of renewable energy production and the expansion of public transport.

The strike of 27 September will be the first wave of mobilization of the international platform By 2020 We Rise Up. We do not plan to resign ourselves to the barbarism and collective defeat of humanity. We return and we will return to the streets, increasingly, increasingly stronger, increasingly organized.
