An episode of “Somos Portugal” is to be broadcast live and direct from Zoomarine, near Guia, on 21 July.

Over almost seven hours, the presenters of the show will be featuring music, entertainment and an insight into Zoomarine throughout the day.

To celebrate the event, Zoomarine are offering visitors a special 35 percent discount on ticket entry for the day, with details available on their Facebook page. Those who are unable to attend in person can watch the fun from the comfort of their own home on TVI between 12.20pm and 8pm.

Meanwhile, a rescued leatherback turtle has been named at Zoomarine following a public vote.

The 300kg turtle, that was rescued on 20 June after being found caught in fishing lines and then transferred to Zoomarine for rehabilitation, has been officially named Quinas after 36 percent of the voters on Facebook opted for the name.

Zoomarine also revealed that the latest blood tests from Quinas have shown an improvement in the white blood cell count of the turtle and have stated that they hope that the reptile will be able to be returned to the wild as soon as possible.
