The Tourism Strategy 2027 was drawn up by the government in collaboration with the national tourism board, Turismo de Portugal, and will now be put forward for public debate, involving agents from within and outside the sector.
It identifies ten key points to be worked upon to enhance the industry in this country.
These include ‘People’ (promoting employment and skilled labour), Cohesion (evening out differences between regions), Boosting Value, Seasonality (reducing the impact of), Accessibility, Demand, Innovation, Sustainability, Simplification and Investment.
Portugal’s tourism sector represents 15.3 percent of national exports and accounts for 8.2 percent of the country’s employment.
