Gov’t draws up measures to reforest Monchique and make it less fire-prone

The government has said it aims to launch measures to help replenish the forest lost in last month’s Monchique fire by the end of the year.

It has also said compensation will be given to producers who opt to replace eucalyptus trees with different slow-growing species. The government aims to help reforest Monchique as well as make it less vulnerable to wildfires.
