The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) and the Handball Federation of Portugal (FAP) highlight the common points between futsal and handball, such as “the use of the same playing area – one block of 40x20 – and the identical beacons.”

A press release from the organisations stated: “The joint organisation of futsal and handball Super Cup, on the same day and place, is one of the proposals under analysis, thus emphasising the pioneering aspect of this partnership”.

The agreement “aims to promote cooperation in several areas, namely, sports and training,” using resources and knowledge of the two sports federations.

Fernando Gomes, president of FPF, said the agreement “essentially aims to join forces in the promotion and development of national sport,” noting: “Our goals are to improve as individual federations at the same time as we contribute, together, to more and better sport.”
