The business unit of the NH Hotel Group in southern Europe announced the reorganisation of its structure in Portugal, following the process of integration of Minor hotels in its operation, and the portfolio in Portugal includes, in total, 17 hotels, operated under the brands NH Hotels, NH Collection, Tivoli, Anantara and Avani, the hotel group said in a statement.

The elimination of redundant positions is based on a process of collective dismissal and implies a reduction of 4.4 percent of jobs in Portugal, of a team with around 1,500 professionals, said the group, without giving figures.

“This is a difficult decision, but necessary to ensure the efficiency of the business”, the group added.

The company added that it would also launch a support plan to reach the best possible agreement for those affected.

In that sense, the proposal for financial compensation established significantly exceeds that applicable by law. In the same way, the group expressed its total willingness to devote all its attention to the professionals involved in this process and to open avenues of understanding for a negotiated solution with their representatives, avoiding legal proceedings and the prolongation of the uncertainty that these situations may generate, they said.

Currently, NH’s business unit in southern Europe manages more than 160 hotels.
