United Investments Portugal (UIP) has announced the arrival in Portugal of one of the largest hotel chains in the world, Hyatt, with a new five star superior development that combines residential and hotel accommodation and is expected to open in 2020.

Located on the waterfront in Belém, Hyatt Regency Lisboa represents an investment of €70 million and features accommodation units ranging from fully equipped studios to three-bedroom apartments. The interior design is inspired by the Portuguese discoveries and the modern influences of Lisbon.

Promoted and managed by Realtejo - Hotelaria e Turismo, SA, a subsidiary of United Investments Portugal and Fibeira, this Hyatt branded project also has a rooftop bar with panoramic river views, restaurant, swimming pool, gym, car park, meeting rooms and a spa.

This venture reflects the UIP group’s commitment to the national market, where it already has projects in the Algarve (Pine Cliffs Resort), Cascais (Sheraton Cascais Resort) and Porto (YOTEL Porto).

Carlos Leal, managing director of United Investments Portugal, said: “We are very excited about the growth we are experiencing and opening in Lisbon with a brand as innovative as Hyatt. This will be a differentiating project with a great impact on the capital and marks the growth of the UIP portfolio.”

“We are delighted to announce the first Hyatt hotel in Portugal,” said Nuno Galvão-Pinto, Hyatt’s regional vice president of development. “Lisbon is rapidly establishing itself as a premier destination for leisure travellers and also for incentive trips or large conventions. We look forward to working with United Investments Portugal on this exciting project.”
