“From 1 January to 31 July 2020, the PSP detained 3,019 people for this reason [driving without a legal license], 522 more than in the same time frame in 2019”, when the number of arrests was 2,467.

In the first seven months of last year, 84 of the 2,467 citizens detained for driving without a license were detected for being involved in road accidents, the police said, adding that this year the number increases to 98.

According to the PSP, even in the “context of the pandemic crisis”, the police have devoted “special attention to road safety” as “an important part of people’s daily lives”.
