The number of people detected driving without a license increased by 22 percent in the first seven months of this year, compared to the same period last year, totalling 3,019 drivers, announced the PSP.

“From 1 January to 31 July 2020, the PSP detained 3,019 people for this reason [driving without a legal license], 522 more than in the same time frame in 2019”, when the number of arrests was 2,467.

In the first seven months of last year, 84 of the 2,467 citizens detained for driving without a license were detected for being involved in road accidents, the police said, adding that this year the number increases to 98.

According to the PSP, even in the “context of the pandemic crisis”, the police have devoted “special attention to road safety” as “an important part of people’s daily lives”.

Dimwit, of course it's people driving who shouldn't be on the road as they have no licence and never learned to drive, not people who've left their licence at home!

Does this mean people who have no driving license, or simply those people who were foolish enough to leave home without their license? If there are thousands of people without a license, who have not learned to drive and pass a test, with no insurance then that is a scandal. If it is just that they forgot their license, then the law should be changed as it criminalises what is a normal human failing.
