“In 2021, the increase will be of €10 for all pensions up until 1.5 IAS (Indexante de Apoios Sociais) and covers nearly two million pensioners. It will be the measure with the greatest impact on the permanent expenditure of the budget for 2021, with an annual cost of €270 million”, said João Leão at the debate of the government’s proposal for their state budget for 2021.

In a speech the governor stressed the start of the payment of this increase "as early as January, as a result of the commitment made to the CFP". João Oliveira also revealed that the Government admitted, in conversations with the CFP, in addition to the increase of €10 for "all pensions up to €685 from January", there would be an "allocation of the benefit for the sick, and workers at risk”.
