“The inquiry into the matter is confirmed. The same goes for terms in the DIAP [Department of Investigation and Criminal Action] of Lisbon,” says the Attorney General's Office, in a written reply sent to Lusa agency.

A hospital source told Lusa that “the child will remain under observation in the intensive care unit” of Dona Estefânia Hospital in Lisbon.

On 5 November, the Public Security Police (PSP) reported that the baby was found in the late afternoon in a dustbin next to the Lux disco on Infante D. Henrique Avenue in Santa Apolónia.

"A newborn was found in the late afternoon by a homeless man inside a dustbin, still with traces of the umbilical cord," a PSP source said.

The case is under investigation by the Judicial Police.
