According to the National Statistics Institute (INE) for July itself, it estimated a slight reduction in the jobless rate, to 6.5 percent.


In May the rate had also been unchanged from April, at 6.6 percent.


In the document, the INE says “that value [6.6 percent] represents a low revision of 0.1 percentage points of the provisional estimate released a month ago.”


The total number of unemployed in June was an estimated 338,600 people (5,300 or 1.5 percent lower than first estimated), which was down 2,800 or 0.8 percent from May but up 4,400 or 1.3 percent from over three months, since March, the INE report shows.


Compared with June of 2018, unemployment was down 16,200 or 4.5 percent.
