Sixteen people have been infected with the Legionella bacteria in Oporto, five of whom have been admitted to hospital with Legionnaires Disease. Six cooling towers have been closed off as a result but the National Health Board has not specified where.

A hotel in the region has been shut down after a French and a Swedish tourist staying at the unit became infected with the bacteria, but the head of the Health Board has said that no link has yet been made between those cases and the others.
