Showcasing the customary ocean’s-worth of fresh seafood to a multitude of local, regional and national recipies, the Olhão Seafood Festival will this year be taking place from 9 to 14 August.

The week-long event yearly attracts tens of thousands of visitors to Olhão’s riverfront and this year promises to be no exception, with a line-up of leading national artists due to take the stage for the nightly entertainment.

Popular Angolan musician Matias Damásio will be joined by Portuguese pop star Aurea on the opening night (9 August); highly respected Queen tribute band Killer queen will be providing the entertainment on 11 August, with band Resistencia also on the rota, closing the event on 14 August.

There will also be two DJ turns, with DJ Christian F (9 August) and Wilson Honrado (14 August) prolonging the party into the wee small hours.

Describing this year’s event as having a “new luxury musical line-up”, Olhão council has once again focussed on making this 34th edition a family-oriented event, with a free Kids Club where children aged three upwards can enjoy themselves in safety.

Children up to the age of six (as long as accompanied by an adult) do not pay for entry, and from seven to 12 years old will only be charged half price.

The Seafood Festival takes place in the Patrão Joaquim Lopes Gardens in Olhão.

Full tickets cost €7 on 9, 10 and 11 August and €9 on days 12, 13 and 14.

Tickets will also soon be on sale through Ticketline and at participating stores.
