After a visit to the Air Traffic Control centre in Lisbon, Pedro Marques said the simulations showed that there could be up to 72 take-offs and landings once the secondary airport in Montijo became operational, but the main Lisbon airport could still handle many more planes.
The airport manager ANA said it was going to speed up the availability of the physical conditions to increase capacity to more than 40 movements an hour and even handle as many as 48.
