Free parking could be offered to holders of public transport passes who leave their cars at car parks and continues their journeys by bus or train.
The proposal has been put forward by the leftist CDU coalition and has been well received by Lisbon Council.
Some 400,000 cars entre Lisbon city centre every day.
It has been greatly broadcasted that the free parking would be for those that hold public transport passes. This is not accurate. What is written in the proposal is that the parking would be free for those that possess a valid transport title (this is either pass is any transport ticket).
As it has been said by the news would imply that only those that would acquire a pass would benefit and in fact is a much more broad measure.
