Lisbon Metro workers strike

Workers on the Lisbon Metro have announced a partial strike for most of Wednesday morning.

According to the National Railworkers’ Union, who called the action, the majority of workers will be staying away from 5am to 11am, while administrative staff will only be returning to their desks at 12.30pm.

A statement on the Lisbon Metro’s website said it expected normal service to resume Wednesday morning at around 11.30am and said it has freighted four busses in a bid to minimise the effects of the strike.

The action has been called to protest against recently approved salary cuts for civil servants.
