The event is expected to attract some 3,000 gymnasts from around the world to the Portuguese capital between 13 and 17 July, 2021.

Athletes will come together at the Altice Arena during the event which is part of the Lisbon European Capital of Sport 2021 programme of events.

The World Gym for Life challenge is an international contest that is held every four years. Participation in the event is open to everyone, regardless of gender, age, race, religion, culture, ability or social standing. Each of the performances are a maximum of five minutes in length and can incorporate any gymnastic element, with or without apparatus.

The previous edition of the event was held in Norway, where Portugal was represented by a total of 178 gymnasts in nine different classes.
