The Ultimate Family Holiday Index by Club Med has detailed the top 25 family holiday destinations around the world based on how family friendly they are by combining seven data points including the average spend per holiday and per day, the happiness score based on the World Happiness Report and the cost of a meal at an inexpensive restaurant in the country as a whole and in the capital city.


Lisbon came out in the number ten spot overall, coming behind Madrid which took the top place and London and Paris in second and third place respectively.


The Portuguese capital was higher up in the rankings in specific areas and was placed in fifth for holiday spend per day and seventh for average meal cost, making it one of the most economical capitals to holiday in with family.


A statement from Club Med said: “From charming backstreets, to Tuk Tuk tours, to vibrant street art and markets, Portugal’s capital Lisbon made the top 10 destinations for it’s family friendliness.


“Ranking at fifth for holiday spend per day (€93.38) and seventh for average meal cost (€8.96), there’s a lot more to Lisbon for families than meets the eye.”
