On January 31, DGAV published the list of parishes that make up the demarcated area affected by the insect, which mainly affects citrus fruits, but meanwhile officially confirmed the presence of the pest in the parish of Alcântara, in Lisbon.
Due to the “need for a permanent update of the information on the listings of the parishes that make up the demarcated area and the adoption of a more agile instrument for the publication of that information”, in the dispatch published it is mentioned that the map and the list of parishes fully covered and the parishes partially covered will be published on the DGAV site, as well as changes or updates to these areas.
The DGAV stresses that, by law, whenever the ‘trioza erytreae’ pest is detected in a new area, it is mandatory to widen the demarcated areas already established.
‘Trioza erytreae’, is an insect that causes serious damage to citrus fruits, and is also a vector of a disease caused by the bacterium ‘Candidatus liberibacter’, considered the most serious worldwide for these species, but which has not yet entered Europe.
