The island of Madeira has created two new road signs based on the French road system, which are pending approval by the regional parliament.

Once approval has been given the signs will be placed along the island’s main roads. The signage is a first for Portugal, and stipulates that drivers can circulate at 10 kilometres above the speed limit, if the surface is dry, or stick to the speed limit if the surface is wet.
