According to information made available on the mobile application of the Regional Civil Protection Service of Madeira, at 8am, 33 operational combatants were supported by 15 terrestrial means, four fire brigades, the Forest Police, the Regional Command of Relief Operations and the Municipal Civil Protection Service of Calheta.

“Another theatre of operations is at Achadas da Cruz [which is located between Ponta do Pargo and Porto Moniz], with 32 operational and 10 land vehicles”, from a fire brigade, Forest Police and GNR.

Achadas da Cruz is a parish in the municipality of Porto Moniz.

The fire started at the Lombada Velha site, at 5:16am on 3 February, and has since spread to several locations in the parish of Ponta do Pargo, in areas of forest, approaching, sometimes with danger, some residences, due to the dispersed population that characterizes the region.
