"The chaos in the health service is not on Madeira, it is on the mainland," said Albuquerque at the inauguration of refurbishment works of the Bom Jesus Health Centre, in the centre of Funchal, a €5.8 million contract.

"The party-political-news narrative aiming to turn the Madeira health service into a calamity, is nothing more than fiction".

"We are determined to cover the entire population with primary health care," he said, noting that the current rate in Madeira is 62%.

The Bom Jesus Health Centre, for example, provides care to 49,051 registered users, of whom 30,560 have GPs.

"There is no perfect health service in any part of the world, but Madeira continues to improve every year, with highly trained and highly motivated doctors, nurses and operational assistants”.
