Man arrested at Lisbon airport for drug trafficking from Brazil

A man was arrested at Lisbon airport on suspicion of drug trafficking from Brazil and 1.7 kilograms of narcotic drugs was seized, the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) force said on Friday.

"As part of an investigation carried out by the Polícia Judiciária, it was possible to identify an individual, who regularly travelled by plane between Brazil and Portugal, suspected of transporting drugs hidden in his clothes coming from Brazil," the PJ said in a statement.

The arrest took place at Lisbon airport, which was followed by searches in the southern region.

The police action resulted in the seizure of 1,750 grams of cocaine and crime-related objects.

The detainee, after being heard by the authorities, was remanded in custody.
