Man in custody for 11 robbery crimes in Lisbon

A 49-year-old man was arrested on Monday, 6 January, in Lisbon for the practice of 11 robbery crimes and was ordered to remand after a first judicial interrogation, PSP announced on 8 January.

According to the authorities, the suspect was arrested in the act of theft of a mobile phone at a bus stop.

In a statement, the PSP (Cometlis) Lisbon Metropolitan Command, through the Public Transport Security Division, said that after the demarches, they related the man to the practice of ten other robbery crimes.

The PSP adds that some crimes were committed when the man was complying with the coercion measure of biweekly presentations to the authorities.

According to police, the man committed the crimes within the compositions of the Metropolitano de Lisboa, through the stretching method, having stolen mobile phones valued at more than five thousand euros.

According to Cometlis, the detainee had already served a prison sentence for crimes against property.

The PSP also points out that the Criminal Police Authority has issued an arrest warrant out of the act of intent to "stop this man's serious criminal activity as soon as possible, thereby seeking to prevent further theft."
