According to a PSP source, the 82-year-old man went “voluntarily to the PSP station in Olhão around 11:30pm”, after having been missing for several hours.

During that time, he added, the police had been looking for the suspect.

The warning for the stabbing was given “around 7pm on Wednesday by one of the couple's children”, aged 15, when he arrived home, but the PSP indicated that the death had occurred, “a few hours before".

The other son is 4 years old.

The Judiciary Police "was at the couple's home, scene of the crime, for several hours collecting evidence" and is the authority responsible for the investigation.

According to the same source, the death occurred in a context of domestic violence, which, according to Correio da Manhã, had already prompted a complaint to the authorities, about five months ago.
