The initiative started in May with the distribution of masks to residents of social neighbourhoods, the elderly and professionals in the areas of intervention and civil protection and to families who resorted to the Loulé Solidário line during the peak of the pandemic. In this first phase, more than 2,500 masks were distributed throughout the municipality.
Now, at a time when many tourists are on holiday in the municipality of Loulé, the Municipality has decided to extend this preventive action and distribute (reusable) social masks to local businesses in the municipality, as a way of increasing the safety of these professionals.
All restaurants, shops or cafes are receiving kits with 2 masks, disinfectant wipes and an informative flyer.
In this way, from the coast to the interior, the Municipality will distribute thousands of masks made by the needleworkers of the atelier where the costumes of Carnival are created, as well as professionals who joined this project, in an action that has as partner ABC - Algarve Biomedical Centre, an entity that designed and conceived the mask model, guaranteeing the appropriate safety standards for the prevention of Covid-19.
What in god's name are "social masks"?!?!

"Social masks" are just what the name implies! It allows one to be "social", to interact with people. To go to work, to go shopping, to go to restaurants, etc. Of course, for people who are not "sociable", the mask can't change that attitude...

LOL, wearing masks for months and the virus is as present as ever. I am sure "social" masks will save tourism.
