Masks for schools will cost more than €7 million

The minister of Education Tiago Brandão Rodrigues, announced an additional investment of €7 million to guarantee masks and other individual protection equipment to the schools during the second period of classes.

At the start of the first period, the Government already made a similar investment.

“Information has already gone to the schools about the increase of school budget by around seven million Euros to ensure purchases for the second period of everything that schools need to provide, namely masks, alcohol gel and all the other materials”, explained Tiago Brandão Rodrigues.

The minister remembered all the work that have been done between the General Direction for Health (DGS) and the Ministry of Education in the production of general guidelines for the functioning of schools and the framework for schools on controlling the transmission of the new coronavirus, which continues to be updated. He also stressed that at the beginning of the school year, schools already had available all the materials and equipment of individual protection in order to contain the spread of the virus.
