According to the Portuguese Met Office (IPMA), in the Algarve the counties at highest risk of wildfires are Tavira and Alcoutim.

At very high risk of fire are more than 60 counties in the districts of Faro, Beja, Santarém, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Viseu, Coimbra, Guarda, Vila Real, Braga and Bragança, while a further several counties in the 18 districts of mainland Portugal at high risk.
