The 24 patrols, 16 of the Army and eight of the Navy, totaling 96 soldiers, will operate in 10 districts of mainland Portugal, including Beja, Castelo Branco, Évora, Faro, Guarda, Leiria, Lisbon, Portalegre, Santarém and Setúbal.

The military will be engaged in ground surveillance operations but may also be engaged in rescue or general protection and relief operations.

According to forecasts, there will be a gradual rise in maximum temperatures, may be up to 40ºC in the interior of the Alentejo on Wednesday.

Winds will be strong north/northwesterly changing to northeasterly in the north and centre interior on Tuesday and Wednesday, with gusts of up to 75 km/h in the Algarve (in particular in Foia and Monchique) as well as Faro, the western Algarve, and the central and southern regions, including Lisbon and Leiria.

Air humidity levels will not exceed 20% in southern and central interior regions and less than 30% in the northeast of Trás-os-Montes.
