More than 2,300 health professionals hired during a pandemic

More than 2,300 health professionals, such as doctors and nurses, were hired during the covid-19 pandemic to strengthen the National Health System (SNS), the Secretary of State for Health, António Lacerda Sales said

"During the pandemic, more than 2,300 health professionals were hired by the SNS institutions, whose boards of directors, as you know, are authorized to hire directly within the scope of covid-19", revealed the minister during the daily press conference to update information about the pandemic in Portugal.

Lacerda Sales specified that among the contractors are about 750 nurses, more than 100 doctors, about 1,100 operational assistants, 150 senior diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, and 150 technical assistants and thanked them for their "availability and for the worthy and invaluable work that have been developing".

According to the Secretary of State, the Government will "continue to reinforce, prepare and strengthen the NHS, so that it can provide answers to those who need it, whether in childbirth, disease prevention, diagnosis or treatment".
