In a statement, the Association of Industrial Construction and Public Works (AICCOPN) stressed that it is necessary to “go back to 2008 to find a year with a greater volume of credit granted”.
At the same time, taking into account “the ‘stock’ of home loans, at the end of 2019, there is a slight increase of 0.3 percent, in year-on-year terms”, totalling €93.290 million, according to data from the association.
Meanwhile, the volume of credit granted to construction and real estate companies last year registered “an annual reduction of 6.6 percent, standing at only €16.0 billion, the lowest amount since the beginning of the 21st century”, according to the association.
According to the association, the construction and rehabilitation works of residential buildings licensed by the city councils last year “registered a variation of 9.4 percent, compared to the previous year, to 16,461, with the number of licensed buildings in new buildings a total 23,737, as a result of an annual growth of 17.2 percent”.
In December, AICCOPN recalled, “the average housing value for the purposes of bank appraisal was €1,321 per square metre, which translates into an 8.3 percent increase, compared to €1,220” recorded in the last month of 2018 .
