While the banknotes contain a host of security features, the Bank of Portugal has warned consumers to be vigilant for forgeries as these notes are rarely used in transactions in the country.


The new €100 and €200 notes are a different size to the old €100 and €200 notes, but both denominations are now the same height as the €50 banknote while their length remains unchanged, as the longer the note, the higher the value.
